It's a lovely book and I've had a grand time reading through it and trying some of the delicious dishes contained therein.

Fried macaroni's!

You cook off the macaroni's, add s&P, and fry them in butter until they're nice & golden brown.

ReplyDeleteOh it would be fried Okra. In the summertime we would go to the farms and pick okra, string beans and tomatoes. Mom would fry okra, cook string beans and cut up slices of tomatoes. I remember when eating dinner, how I would keep an eye on the bowl so I could have a second helping of fried okra if any was left. elizabedu3@aol.com

I would have to say Strawberry shortcakes. It reminds me of my grandparents and my Mom. I can see my Mom cutting strawberries a I can see the homemade cakes my grandfather made to so with them. Might be why I have been thinking about my grandparent a lot this week, my daughter and I were talking about Strawberry shortcakes this week.

A dish that brings back childhood memories would be fudge at Christmas! The recipe originated with Mamie Eisenhower, so it's been around a long time!
