It's a real keeper - can be made quicklly and enjoyed with cookies or fruit!

I wanted to be sure I didn't forget about it, so am posting it here.

It would be super any time of the year, but especially now during the Christmas holidays.

Recipe is easily doubled if you need a whole lot.

Enjoy soon!  (& Quickly too!)

Skinny Frozen Hot Chocolate

If you've been with me very long, you know I am always trying a new smoothie or cold beverage, especially during the summer months.  In the cold months, then it's a warm beverage to get me going.

I've seen MANY recipes for frozen hot chocolate - some even using frozen bananas, but this one from Gina's Skinny Taste is the one I went with, and I'm so glad I did.

I changed it up to reduce a few more calories, and used a sugar free packet of hot cocoa mix. Ovaltine gives it a rich chocolate flavor also.

I was so excited about drinking it, I wish I would have taken time to top it with whipped cream (as well as the whipped topping IN the drink).

After taking photos on my deck, I sat down in the swing and 'chilled' while I enjoyed my cooling frozen drink.  MMMM!

IT.WAS.AWESOME!

SKINNY FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE

  • 1-1/2 c. fat free milk
  • 1 pkt. (sugar free) hot cocoa mix
  • (or 4 Tb. Ovaltine)
  • 1 Tb. unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 2 Tb. fat free whipped topping (optional)
  • drop of peppermint extract (optional)
  • 1 c. ice
  • 1 - 2 pkts. sweetener (Stevia, etc) or sugar, to taste, optional

Pour the milk into your blender. Add cocoa mix, baking cocoa and whipped topping (or top off your drink with it.) Then add ice. And sweetener.

Blend about 3 minutes until the ice is completely chopped and the mixture is thick and icy. Serve immediately.

Yield: 2 servings

Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate

Last week I shared a recipe for Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate.
This week's post is a dressed up version of that one...this one
has added white chocolate.  MMM!

I am soooo in love with seasonal drinks this time of the year.  Especially warm ones.  I love simple and easy ones like this so I can be satisfying my craving in no time at all.

Thanks to Tidy Mom for sharing this yummy concotion.  I did see the link at Miss Information when she shared 40 fall beverages.  MMMM!

PUMPKIN SPICE WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE
1-1/2 c. whole milk (I used 1%)
1/2 c. canned pumpkin puree
1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
pinch of ground cloves
(I added a pinch of nutmeg also)
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
pinch of sea salt
2 ozs. white chocolate, roughly chopped

In small saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, pumpkin and spices. (Stir spices into pumpkin first for a smoother end result). Heat until just before it boils, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat and stir in chocolate, reserving some to garnish your drink.

Just before serving, top with whipped cream (the more the better!)...add a few shavings of chocolate and sprinkle with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.

Yield: 2 servings

Recipe can easily be doubled or tripled.

Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

I'm tellin' ya what....

I just L-O-V-E 'dressed up' warmed drinks in the fall and winter months.

Like this one...so easy and yet so good.  Warms the body and soul.
....And fingers and toes too.  *-*

I saw this recipe at Baking with Blondie after Miss Information shared
links to 40 (YES - 4-0! fall drinks). Follow that last link to the page for more warming ideas....

I am simply a sucker (or slurper, if you will=) for these yummy, simple drinks, particularly this time of the year.

Stay tuned...I'll be sharing another warmed pumpkin drink soon...

PUMPKIN SPICE HOT CHOCOLATE

2 1/2 c. milk (I used 1%)
1/3 c. hot cocoa mix
(I used sugar free - 2 envelopes)
1/4 c. canned pumpkin puree
1  to 1-1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
(I also added a couple drops of caramel coffee flavoring too)
homemade whipped cream

In a medium sauce pan over medium-low heat, whisk together milk, hot cocoa mix, vanilla, and pinch of salt.  Then add pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice.

Heat thoroughly, whisking as the temperature rises.
When desired temperature is reached, pour into 3 small mugs (or two large ones), top with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Sprinkle a couple of shakes of pumpkin pie spice for a pretty garnish.

Yield: 2 large or 3 small

Pumpkin Spice M-M-Mochaccino Mix

I was SO happy when I recently came across this awesome mix at Just a Pinch Recipe Club online.

I've already made 2 batches of it.  It's soooo yummy!

And have shared the recipe a few times as well.

Being able to enjoy a cup of hot tea or cocoa, especially during the winter months, really helps soothes my body and soul.
I love giving homemade gifts for the holidays and this one is very special. I've always loved a coffee/cocoa mixture. And I know the recipients will be very pleased this holiday season as well.

This warm-your-insides drink is very tasty and oh-so creamy too.

When we went to visit our daughter Deb recently (The Queen Mommy) - I took some mix for her to try out. She's a coffee/tea/cocoa 'connoisseur' of sorts. {Check out her recent post here for numerous homemade coffee creamer recipes!}

I was a little leery as she is pretty particular about tastes/textures, but was so tickled when she called the next day to say she needed this recipe.  It was sooo good she didn't really want to share any with her hubby, but gave in to him...

I took a sample to my daughter-in-love and son to try, and he was NOT happy when he realized there wasn't more.

(So of course, I quickly took more over to them...along with the recipe).

Put some of this mix in a pretty bag inside a coffee mug - add a bow and the recipient will be very pleased.

I love that you can use lite or sugar free products to suit dietary needs, and the results are still out-of-this-world-yummy!

PUMPKIN SPICE MOCHACCINO MIX

3 c. regular powdered creamer
2 c. plain hot cocoa mix
(I used sugar free)
1/2 c. vanilla creamer (I used sugar free)
(the original recipe used marshmallow mocha creamer - sometimes found at Aldi's - I couldn't find it)
4 TB. pumpkin pie spice
(I have a recipe for making your own here)
1 TB. ground nutmeg
1 rounded cup instant coffee
(I used decaf)

Mix all ingredients well until smooth and there are no lumps.  Store in air tight container.

In bottom of your mug, place 3 rounded Tablespoonsful of the mix.  Add 1 c. heated milk. Stir well until dissolved and enjoy.

It tastes great using hot water too, but milk gives it an extra boost.

Certainly feel free to drizzle with caramel syrup just to make yourself feel really pampered!

(If you want it to dissolve easier, try mixing a cup of mix at a time in the blender until it's becomes more powder-y, but I don't think it's necessary with this recipe.)
